Welcome Message from the AsiaFlux Chair

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the AsiaFlux Conference 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Since its establishment, AsiaFlux has served as a unique platform connecting researchers across Asia to advance our understanding of ecosystem–atmosphere exchanges of carbon, water, and energy. Through long-term observations, data sharing, and scientific collaboration, the AsiaFlux community has made significant contributions to regional and global environmental research.

This year’s conference theme, “Advancing Carbon and Energy Flux Research for Climate Resilience and Carbon Neutrality in Asia,” reflects the growing importance of our community in addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing society today. As countries across Asia pursue pathways toward carbon neutrality while adapting to increasing climate extremes, flux observations and ecosystem research provide critical scientific foundations for informed decision-making and sustainable land management.

Asia is home to an extraordinary diversity of ecosystems, climates, and socioeconomic conditions. Understanding these systems requires not only long-term field observations, but also the integration of remote sensing, ecosystem modeling, atmospheric inversion, artificial intelligence, and emerging Earth observation technologies. From flux towers to satellites, and from local observations to continental-scale assessments, the continued growth of AsiaFlux demonstrates the power of international collaboration in addressing these complex scientific questions.

I am particularly encouraged by the increasing participation of students and early-career researchers. The future of AsiaFlux depends on the next generation of scientists who will lead new discoveries, develop innovative methodologies, and strengthen collaborations across national boundaries.

Looking ahead, I believe that stronger integration among flux observations, Earth observation satellites, ecosystem models, and emerging AI technologies will open new opportunities for understanding and managing the rapidly changing terrestrial ecosystems of Asia. By working together across disciplines and countries, we can further enhance our scientific contributions and support a more resilient and sustainable future.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the local organizing committee, ThaiFlux, Kasetsart University, sponsors, and all volunteers for their tremendous efforts in organizing this conference. I also thank every participant for contributing your expertise, enthusiasm, and commitment to advancing flux science in Asia.

I hope that AsiaFlux 2026 will inspire new ideas, foster lasting collaborations, and further strengthen our community. I wish you a productive conference and an enjoyable stay in Bangkok.

I look forward to meeting you all.

Sincerely,

Kazuhito Ichii

Welcome to AsiaFlux 2026

We are pleased and honored to invite you to participate in the upcoming AsiaFlux Conference 2026, to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from the 23rd to the 28th of November 2026. The conference will be hosted by Kasetsart University in collaboration with ThaiFlux and the AsiaFlux scientific community.

The AsiaFlux Conference is the network’s annual gathering, bringing together scientists, policymakers, and practitioners to advance research on ecosystem–atmosphere exchanges and land-based climate solutions. Recent meetings in Sarawak (2022), Jeju Island (2023), Wuhan (2024) and Riau (2025) have strengthened regional collaboration. Thailand previously hosted the conference in Chiang Mai in 2006, reflecting its long-standing engagement within the network.

The AsiaFlux Conference 2026, under the theme “Advancing Carbon and Energy Flux Research for Climate Resilience and Carbon Neutrality in Asia,” marks an important milestone as the conference returns to Thailand after nearly two decades. Thailand offers a unique platform integrating forest, agricultural, and urban flux studies, supported by long-term research infrastructure that advances understanding of carbon, water, and energy dynamics.

Located in Bangkok, one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic cities, the conference will highlight tropical perspectives on carbon neutrality, climate resilience, and sustainable land management. It is expected to attract a diverse international audience of researchers, policymakers, industry professionals, and students.

We invite you to support this event through various sponsorship opportunities, including exhibitions, promotional platforms, and conference materials. Your support will contribute to advancing environmental research and strengthening regional collaboration. Kindly contact our secretariat team for further details on sponsorship options.

We look forward to your valued support in making AsiaFlux Conference 2026 a success.

With our Warm Welcome,

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surat Bualert
Organizing Chairperson AsiaFlux Conference 2026

Welcome Message from the President of the ThaiFlux Community

On behalf of the ThaiFlux Community, it is my great pleasure and honor to warmly welcome you to the AsiaFlux Conference 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.

It is a privilege for Thailand to host the AsiaFlux Conference and to welcome researchers, students, and professionals from across Asia and around the world. More than a scientific meeting, AsiaFlux is a gathering of a community that has long been united by friendship, collaboration, and a shared commitment to improving our understanding of ecosystem–atmosphere interactions.

This conference is especially meaningful for the ThaiFlux Community as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ThaiFlux Network initiative and two decades of flux research and collaboration in Thailand. Over the past twenty years, our community has grown through the dedication, friendship, and generous support of many colleagues in Thailand and abroad. We are truly honored to celebrate this milestone together with the AsiaFlux community, and we warmly invite you to join us as we look ahead to the next chapter of collaboration and discovery.

Bangkok provides a unique setting where tradition and innovation exist side by side. Beyond the conference, we invite you to experience Thailand’s rich cultural heritage, renowned hospitality, vibrant cuisine, and the warmth that has long been part of our way of welcoming friends and guests from around the world.

We cordially invite you to join us in Bangkok, Thailand, for AsiaFlux Conference 2026. We look forward to welcoming you
